Creativity dose with... Jessica Kaye
Jessica Kaye is a talented Artist and Painter.
Australian artist living and painting in Notting Hill London. She moved to London from Sydney over a year ago with her boyfriend Matteo. Art is how she makes sense of the world - she can sketch for hours every day, reworking one line after the next until it captures an intimate moment, thought or feeling… Largely inspired by her own life, by the complexity behind the everyday.
Define your style in 3 words
- Simple, oversized, uniform.
Favorite fashion brands?
- The Frankie Shop, Bassike, Loewe.
Your female muse/ inspirational person ?
- I’m inspired by Lalah Delia’s words, Camille Charriere’s style and Tamsin Johnson’s interiors.
Basics every woman should have in her dressing room?
- High-waisted wide-leg jeans, pant suits and crisp white sneakers.
How do you recharge your batteries ?
- Nature and no phone… Walk in the park, reading in the sun, swim in the sea (when I’m in Sydney!)
The Art you chose to express yourself ?
- Drawing and Painting…. I sketch every day. It helps me figure out what I’m thinking and how I’m feeling. Then I paint and I finally stop thinking. Sketching is my therapy and painting is my joy.
Favorite artists in any field?
I have many! Rothko, Matisse, Lucien Freud...
Who do you dream to meet?
- I’d love to ‘meet' my grandpa. He passed away when I was seven years old, so I’d love to meet him as an adult and get to know him.
Favorite restaurant?
- Sabor at the counter in London, Frenchie Bar à Vins in Paris and Rawbar in Sydney
Favorite museum?
- An impossible question but I do have a soft spot for the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice.
Next trip ?
- Iceland
Readings to advise?
- A Little Life, The War of Art and Educated.
Your favorite quote ?
“When things don’t go as expected - trust the reroute.” Lalah Delia.
A style advice to give?
- Less is more - buy quality pieces you will still want to wear in five years.
Favorite IG account?
What are your sources of inspiration?
- Podcasts, books, travel, people-watching, intimate chats with close friends, homemade pasta.
Biggest dream ?
- A studio in the french countryside where I can spend summers painting, reading, and drinking wine with family and friends. (No phones allowed)
